Console mode is pure manual trading with full compliance protection. There is NO built-in strategy ▷ you trade your own strategy, your own analysis, on any symbol. PropOS handles position sizing, drawdown tracking, daily loss limits, and all prop firm rules automatically. Think of it as a trading cockpit that protects you from breaking the rules.
Step-by-Step Setup
- Log in to your prop firm account
- Open any chart on any symbol you want to trade
- Enable AutoTrading (green play button in the toolbar)
- Drag PropOS_Challenge_Workstation.ex5 onto the chart
In the PropOS inputs window, set these parameters:
| Parameter | Value | Notes |
| Trading Mode | Console | Fourth option |
| Prop Firm Profile | YOUR PROP FIRM | Select your firm |
| Current Phase | 1 or 2 | Your challenge phase |
| Risk Per Trade % | 1.0 | Risk for auto position sizing |
| Gold Stop Loss (ticks) | 1500 | Default SL distance for gold trades |
| Reward : Risk Ratio | 1.0 | TP as multiple of SL |
Click OK.
In Console mode, there are NO strategy parameters because there is no built-in strategy. You make all trading decisions. PropOS only provides execution tools and compliance protection.
- The Execution panel appears with trading controls
- This is your trading cockpit
How to Trade in Console Mode
Trading Controls
- BUY button ▷ opens a buy position on the current symbol. Position size is calculated automatically from your Risk % and the configured SL distance.
- SELL button ▷ opens a sell position. Same automatic sizing.
- CLOSE ALL button ▷ closes all open positions immediately.
- PANIC button ▷ emergency close. Closes everything and locks trading for the rest of the day. Use only in emergencies.
The PANIC button locks trading until the next day. Only use it if something goes seriously wrong. There is no undo.
Position Sizing
- You set Risk Per Trade % (e.g., 1.0%)
- You set a default SL distance (e.g., 1500 ticks for gold)
- PropOS calculates the lot size so that if the trade hits SL, you lose exactly that % of your balance
- Volume is always rounded DOWN to the next valid lot step (never exceeds your risk)
Example: $100,000 account, 1% risk = $1,000 max loss. With 1500 tick SL on gold, PropOS calculates the exact lot size so that 1500 ticks = $1,000.
Compliance Protection
What PropOS does automatically while you trade:
- Tracks daily drawdown in real time ▷ blocks trades if you approach the daily limit
- Tracks maximum drawdown ▷ blocks trades near the overall DD limit
- Enforces news blocking windows (if your firm requires it)
- Monitors best-day limit / consistency rules (if applicable)
- Tracks minimum trading days and profitable days
- Shows challenge progress (how close to profit target)
- Daily Profit Cap ▷ optional, blocks trading after reaching a daily profit %
- Auto-Stop ▷ optional, closes everything when you reach the phase target
Parameters in Detail
Risk & Execution
| Parameter | Default | What it does |
| Risk Per Trade % | 1.0 | % of balance risked per trade |
| Gold Stop Loss (ticks) | 1500 | Default SL for gold. 1500 ticks ≈ $15 per 0.01 lot |
| Reward : Risk Ratio | 1.0 | TP distance as multiple of SL |
Safety Features
| Parameter | Default | What it does |
| Daily Profit Cap | false | Blocks new trades after reaching daily profit target |
| Daily Profit Cap % | 2.0 | Daily profit % to trigger the cap |
| Auto-Stop | false | Closes all and locks trading at phase target |
| Auto-Stop Buffer % | 0.0 | Buffer above target to trigger auto-stop |
For challenge accounts, consider enabling Auto-Stop. It automatically closes all positions and locks trading the moment your equity reaches the profit target. This prevents over-trading after passing and protects your result.
Trading on Multiple Symbols
- Console mode works on any symbol
- You can attach PropOS to different charts for different symbols
- Each instance uses the same compliance tracking (drawdown is account-wide, not per-chart)
If you attach multiple PropOS instances, use different Magic Numbers on each chart so they can track their positions independently.
Frequently Asked Questions

Can I trade without PropOS panels on the chart?
